Mr. Garland Gus Robinson

Garland Gus Robinson was born May 26, 1930, to William Gus and Edith Marie Robinson in Schug Town, Arkansas. He passed peacefully from this life on June 1, 2023, in Paragould. He was 93 years old. At the young age of 14 he began working hauling soybeans for Robinson Farm. Garland spent over 18 years with Foremost Dairy delivering milk to Paragould, Monette, Leachville and Manila. From 1968-74 he owned Robinson Grocery in Walcott. Later he joined Builders Transport as an owner operator. On the road Garland was known as the “store keeper” later retiring as a dispatcher. He worked from daylight to dark most days to make sure his family had everything they needed. Although Garland firmly believed you don’t spare the rod, he was the most loving and devoted dad and Papa you could ever know. “I Love You” was not said often however it was spoken in everything he did for his family. He had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his laugh was infectious to everyone around him. A man of many traits, he was always “tinkering” with something, fixing something for somebody, or doing something to help someone out. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. Garland was a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family. He was a selfless man whose passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in everyone he knew. He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of over 73 years Bonnie Mae Robinson and his parents William Gus and Edith Marie (Price) Robinson. Garland leaves behind three children Everett Allen (Linda) Robinson of Walcott, Rita (Bobby) Ball of Walcott and James Roy (Allison) Robinson of Bentonville, AR; eight grandchildren Perry Robinson of Bentonville, AR, Katelyn Robinson of Bentonville, AR, Thomas Robinson of Paragould, AR, Kristen Beardon of Jonesboro, AR, Tiffany (Brad) Harris of Finch, AR, Christopher Robinson of Memphis, TN, Craig Hazlewood of Walcott, AR and Kelly Miller of Hoxie, AR; four great-grandchildren Natalie (Randall Johnson) Moore of Hoxie, AR, Blake Moore of Walcott, AR, Alex Hazlewood of Walcott, AR and Christine (Adam) McLoy; one great great grandchild Randy Ray Johnson also known as RJ; brothers Charles (Deronda) Wood of Paragould, AR, Bill (Pearline) Wood of Paragould, AR, Jim (Sheila) Wood of Overland Park, KS, Roy (Phyllis) Robinson of Indio, CA and brother in law Jackie Stewart of Walcott, AR; sister Joy Huckabee of Oak Grove Heights, AR and sister in law Reba Wood of Thayer, MO; his cat with many lives named Lucy; a very special bonus sister Josephine Potter formally of Paragould, AR; bonus grandchildren Michael Potter, Nicholas Quintana, Andrera Burrow and Tim Reagan; along with many many nieces, nephews and life long friends. A visitation will take place Saturday, June 10, 2023 from noon to 1:00 PM at the Walcott Church of Christ. The Celebration of Garland’s Life will begin following the visitation at 1:00 PM with Brother Raymond Lashley officiating.
