Mrs. Bonita Lucille Smith

Bonita “Bonnie” Lucille Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Gosnell on April 29, 2026. Bonnie was born on March 25, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Jacob Sr. and Lois Lane (Leach) Medlock. She was raised in the greater St. Louis area, where she developed the strong values of faith, family, and dedication that would guide her throughout her life. On December 8, 1962, she married her husband, Charles Grady Smith, and together they built a life centered on love, patience, and devotion. Bonnie was a true homemaker in every sense of the word—her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and unconditional love. She had a quiet strength about her and a gentle spirit that never wavered. No matter what life brought, she remained calm, faithful, and steadfast. Bonnie’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She found joy in being surrounded by those she loved—whether it was holidays, time spent outdoors camping, fishing, or simply being together. She loved the lakes, even though she couldn’t swim a lick, and she treasured those moments just the same. She also had a special gift for nurturing life, especially in her garden. Her rosebushes and flowers were a reflection of her care and patience—beautiful, well-tended, and full of life, much like the way she loved those around her. Bonnie was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness and a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Blytheville, where her deep love for Jehovah guided her life each day. She found true joy in studying the Bible and living by its teachings. Bonnie was known for her love, faithfulness, and devotion to her family. She cared for her household with quiet strength, always putting others first and showing kindness in all she did. She was steady, dependable, and gentle in spirit—someone her family could always count on. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lora Lee Johnson; her brother, Jacob Medlock Jr; and her grandmother, Rado Leach. She is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Charles Grady Smith of Gosnell, Arkansas; her daughter, Donna (Steven) George of Gosnell, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Jessica (Tony) Broom of Bono, Arkansas, and Kerri (Wayne) Hindmon of Gosnell, Arkansas; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. In honoring Bonnie’s wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be sent directly to the family.
