Mr. Darrell Allan Black

Darrell Allan Black, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2026, at his home in Paragould, Arkansas. Darrell was born on June 21, 1950, in Milton, West Virginia, to Homer Black and Bonnie Lou (Balmer) Black. As the son of a military father, his childhood included many moves and adventures, including two years living in the Philippines. He attended Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia, where he played football and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter. From a young age, Darrell had a strong work ethic and a heart for helping others. Darrell worked primarily in sales and retail leadership. He served as a Marshal in Kingsford Heights, Indiana. He also managed Color Tile stores before opening his own Color Tile franchise in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Later, he managed Ryan’s Restaurants before earning his CDL and working as a truck driver. He had a gift for connecting with people. Known for his charm and friendly nature, Darrell made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved to laugh and had a playful sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He had an appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed golfing, fishing, and deer hunting. Above all, Darrell was a hardworking man who dedicated much of his life to providing for his family. He is survived by three children: Allan (Beth) Black of Spring Hill, Florida; Darra (Josh) Cunningham of Paragould, Arkansas; and Bonnie Black of Cleveland, Tennessee. His cherished grandchildren include Matthew Black and Lauren Black of Spring Hill, Florida; Matthew Cunningham of Paragould, Arkansas; Trent Cunningham of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Michael Greeson of Cleveland, Tennessee; and Sammie Greeson of Athens, Tennessee. Also surviving is his brother, Craig Black (Jan) of Mims, Florida. The mothers of his children, Jacqueline Whitener and Cheryl Black, also survive him. His two beloved dogs, Wade and Ginger were faithful companions. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Black and Bonnie Lou (Balmer) Black, and by a son, Dewayne Black. Darrell will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of laughter, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. Those closest to him will especially remember his playful and sometimes mischievous sense of humor and the delight he found in making the ones he loved smile. No services are planned at this time.
