Mr. Ernest Joe Gibbins

Ernest Joe Gibbins 59, of Arbyrd, Missouri passed from this life on January 19, 2021 at St Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Earl and Katherine Gibbins, Ernest was #6 of 11 children. Ernest spent most of his career as a professional painter. One memorable moment that makes us all smile is him standing outside the door of the Florida Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a contractor taking a break when Judge Stafford walked up with his arms full of Christmas presents. The Judge ask Ernest to open the door for him. Ernest smiled with that grin of his and politely told the Judge, he did not know who he was, and he would not open the door. Needless to say, once Judge Stafford put away his gifts, he returned to make certain Ernest knew who he was. Ernest was a good man with a huge heart. He was a kind and gentle soul and a huge Elvis fan. Ernest loved all his nephews and nieces and was the best babysitter ever when they were younger. Once we came home to him being locked outside and the children inside. He adored our children and they adored him. Family is so important to all of us, our brother will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Katherine (Bonds) Gibbins and one brother Earl “Jabo” Gibbins Jr. Ernest leaves behind two sisters Kathy (Mike) Reeves of Jackson, Georgia and Rosie Gibbins of Griffin, Georgia; seven brothers Homer (Debra) Gibbins of Zebulon, Georgia, Charles (Jessica) Gibbins of Forrest Park, Georgia, Donnie (Amanda) Gibbins of Douglasville, Georgia, Billy (Brenda) Gibbins of Arbyrd, Missouri, Johnny Gibbins of Griffin, Georgia, Bryan (Cindy) Gibbins of Franklin, Kentucky and Raymond Gibbins of Jonesboro, Arkansas; A very special aunt Judy (Donald) Rice, and two uncles Danny Gibbins and Uncle Bill Charles (Debbie) Gibbins along with numerous nieces, nephews and life long friends. There will be a Memorial Service at a later date in Georgia. Once arrangements are final, the detailed information will be updated.
