Ms. Geraldean Martin

Geraldean Martin, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on August 2, 2026. She was born on January 14, 1941, in Charleston, Missouri, to Macon and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Lamb. The oldest of eight children, Geraldean spent her early years growing up in the Qulin, Missouri, area before her family relocated to Manila, Arkansas, when mill work brought them to Northeast Arkansas. A hardworking and determined woman, Geraldean became one of the first women to serve as a machine operator at American Greetings in Osceola. She dedicated 34 years to the company before retiring, earning the respect of her coworkers through her strong work ethic, quiet determination, and kind spirit. Home was where Geraldean’s heart truly was. She found great joy working in her yard, tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens with meticulous care. Her lawn was always beautifully maintained, her flowerbeds overflowing with blooms, and her garden produced more vegetables than she could ever use herself. She delighted in sharing her harvest with family, friends, and neighbors, believing that kindness and generosity always came back multiplied. Her breathtaking snow-white peonies became well known throughout the community. People would often stop and ask if they could have a blossom, but Geraldean rarely sent anyone away with just one. Instead, she would lovingly gather an entire bouquet for them to enjoy. Geraldean also expressed her love through cooking. Everything she prepared was made from scratch, and those fortunate enough to gather around her table will long remember her famous chocolate peppermint cake, her homemade chicken and dumplings, and countless other meals prepared with love. She faithfully cooked for church gatherings and was an active member of Soul Harbor Church in Manila for as long as her health allowed. More than anything, Geraldean will be remembered for her generous heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering capacity to love. Even when life brought disappointment or heartache, she chose grace instead of bitterness and forgiveness instead of resentment. She understood that forgiveness is not a sign of weakness but of strength, and she carried that quiet wisdom throughout her life. Her hope would be that those she leaves behind treasure one another, forgive quickly, and never allow pride or unforgiveness to steal the precious time we are given with the people we love. She was preceded in death by her children, Nancy Carter, Tommy McGuire, and Rickie Martin; her parents, Macon and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Lamb; her former husband, Everett James McGuire; James “Snooks” Martin Jr.; and all seven of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Ted McGuire of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Gary Martin of Berea, Kentucky, and Connie Martindale of Conway, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends and coworkers whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Services are currently pending and will be announced at a later date. Geraldean will be laid to rest at Manila Cemetery.
