Jenny Marlene Lee, 48, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Our hearts are breaking as we come to terms with the depth of this loss. Jenny was truly one of a kind—bigger than life, intelligent, bold, outspoken, and unforgettable. She was full of laughter, fiercely independent, and lived life on her own terms. Whether you agreed with her or not, you always knew exactly where you stood with Jenny. Jenny was born on October 1, 1977, in Anniston, Alabama, to Kenneth Ray Hardy and Janis R. Cates. She attended school in Pleasant Valley, Alabama, and later pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school. As a hairstylist in Jacksonville, Alabama, Jenny developed a loyal following among local college students. She had a gift for helping people see their own beauty, specializing in styles and colors that left her clients feeling confident and transformed. She genuinely loved making others feel good about themselves and took great pride in her work. Growing up in a strict household, Jenny developed a fiercely independent spirit at an early age. She was adventurous, outgoing, and never met a stranger. Her trusting nature and generous heart often led her to open her arms to others without hesitation. She had a vibrant personality that could light up a room and an ability to make people laugh even during difficult times. Above all else, Jenny loved her family. She shared a special bond with her two sons, Charles and Timothy, and although life sometimes took them down different paths, they hold many cherished memories of happy times spent with their mother. Those moments, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable stories, will remain in their hearts forever. Jenny was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Ray Hardy; her maternal grandfather, Sgt. Edward F. Riley; and her paternal grandparents, A.J. Hardy and Mary Catherine Hardy. She is survived by her two beloved sons, Charles Lee and Timothy Lee, both of Jacksonville, Alabama; her mother, Janis R. Cates, and stepfather, Danny Cates, of Jacksonville, Alabama; her brother, Mickey Hardy of Saks, Alabama; her grandmother, Yoko Riley of Saks, Alabama; the father of her sons, DeWayne Lee and wife Jennifer of Sylacauga, Alabama; grandparents Kathy Caldwell and her husband, Phillip, of Ohatchee, Alabama; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whom she loved dearly. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be sent directly to the family.
