Mrs. Rose Mary Cook

Rose Mary Cook, 78, of Blytheville, Arkansas passed away peacefully February 15, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born December 3, 1946, to Martin and Marilyn (Kerr) Wojcik of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated in 1964 from Tuley High School in Chicago. She then furthered her education at Northeastern Illinois University. She married her husband Damon Cook in 1969 and shortly after moved to Blytheville, Arkansas. She spent most of her career as a Civil Service employee, where she held several positions at Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville, Arkansas and Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois. After retiring from Civil Service, she went back to work at Great River Medical Center, as a Billing and Customer Service Representative. She finally retired in 2020 after 12 years of devoted service to the hospital. Rose Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, co-worker and friend. She was a special, one-of-a-kind person, who never met a stranger and was always full of life, laughter and smiles. She was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and would argue with you over them in a second. She loved to cook and create recipes of her own, often making her husband the taste tester of these experiments. She had a passion for reading and playing games on her computer. She loved animals, especially her grand dogs, who always knew when Grandma was coming to visit with treats in her pocket. Rose Mary is survived by her 2 daughters, Dawn Romero of Blytheville, Arkansas and Heather Cook of Belleville, Illinois. Her Grandchildren, Kayla Cook of Belleville, Illinois and Joey Romero of Arbyrd, Missouri. Her brother Martin (Ahlai) Wojcik of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin and a sister Joan (Elliott) Grunberg of Chicago, Illinois. She also leaves behind 2 nieces and 2 nephews: Greta (Tim) Armentrout from Edneyville, North Carolina, Bret (Carly) Wojcik from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Alexei Grunberg and Sacha Grunberg from Chicago, Illinois. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Damon M Cook of Blytheville, Arkansas, and her parents, Martin Wojcik II and Marilyn Kerr Wojcik of Chicago, Illinois. In honoring Rose Mary’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life for family and friends at a later date, so expressions of sympathy should be sent directly to the family.
