Mr. Bobby Joe Pierce

Bobby Joe Pierce, 80, of Hornersville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. BJ was born and raised in the boot heel of Missouri to Cleo and Frona Belle Pierce. After high school in 1956, he enlisted and proudly served with honor and courage in the United States Navy for over 24 years. During his tenure he was recognized and awarded for various accomplishments during the Vietnam War. His career allowed him to travel around the world and have so many rich experiences in other countries but the one destination BJ cherished the most was home with his family. Upon retirement BJ was determined to move the family to South Carolina due to the state having the longest deer hunting season. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being out in nature, that was his little slice of heaven. He loved to hear the hounds and to exchange tales of hunts long ago. BJ was full of personality and laughter. He never met a stranger and never forgot a face. He enjoyed making others laugh and feel accepted. He was there when anyone needed a hand no matter what it was. He was a dedicated family man who loved unconditionally. He touched the lives of so many. The world was a better place with BJ in it. He was preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Frona Belle Pierce, his son Joey Dale Pierce and his daughter Robin Michelle Pierce. BJ is survived by "the light of his life", his best friend and wife of over 45 years Cheryl (Jarrell) Pierce of Hornersville, Missouri; his sons Rodney (Hope) Pierce of Tyler, Texas, Ryan (Debbie) Pierce of Summerville, South Carolina and Joshua (Rebecca) Pierce of Summerville, South Carolina; grandchildren Savannah Pierce, Caroline Pierce, Charlotte Pierce, Zachery Pierce, Ashley McCool, Benjamin Pierce, Jessie Lang, Jillian Souder and Journey Souder; brother Ronald (Pat) Pierce of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; sisters Joy (Cleo) Renfrow of Peru, Indiana and Judy (Mick) Wilson of Rochester, Indiana; a special niece Rhonda (Tim) Looney of Gobbler, Missouri; along with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and life long friends. There will be a Celebration of BJ’s Life in South Carolina at a later date.
