John Randall Keyes of Jonesboro, AR passed away October 27, 2020 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. John made us laugh, introduced us to adventure, and modeled solid values. He was a loving and generous man, sensitive, and loyal to family and friends. Born in Frostburg, Maryland to Richard and Mary Keyes, after high school John enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for four years as a missile mechanic. Prior to his tour ending he was visiting Walcott when he met a beautiful young lady that stole his heart. Two years later they were married in Jonesboro at Fisher Street Baptist Church. John studied Engineering at Christian Brothers University in Memphis while Lana became a Registered Pharmacist. He retired after 22 years as the Facilities Manager at Sara Lee PYA Warehouses. Very humble, very wise, yet very competitive John was known for his rapier wit, great storytelling and wicked sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling the world with his best friend and soul mate Lana. They toured Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, Austria, France, England, Scotland, Panama Canal, Hawaii 3 times, Central America, and for their 50th wedding anniversary the World War II Memorial Tour. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary (Sirbaugh) Keyes and his sister Mary Elizabeth Montoya. John leaves behind his wife of 54 years Lana Sue Keyes of Jonesboro, AR, his brother Gerald (Mary Lee) Keyes of Detroit, MI, his brother in law Jim (Becky) Hardin of Jonesboro, AR and several nieces, nephews and long time friends. The celebration of John’s life will be on November 10, 2020 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 2912 Gilmore Drive #7327 in Jonesboro followed by a committal service with full honors at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye in Cherry Valley.
