April 23, 1956 - February 5, 2020
Thomas Wesley Pipes, 63, died peacefully on February 5, 2020 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice in Jonesboro with his family by his side. Our hearts are breaking today as we realize the depth of our loss. Tom was bigger than life, smart, bold, opinionated, controversial, outgoing, wild, and full of laughter. He never met a stranger and never forgot a face. Born on April 23, 1956 in Lepanto, Arkansas to Charlie and Iris Pipes, he was one of eleven children. Self-driven and self-taught, Tom was a talented diesel mechanic and welder with a strong work ethic. He was an ingenious man and could fix anything that was broke. Employed by Duffield Gravel of Pope County Arkansas, he leaves behind many coworkers and friendships. Tom was one of a kind – a big-hearted man who loved to fish and camp. He enjoyed his Classic Rock and smoking his Swisher Sweets Cigars. The most important thing to him in the world was his family and being able to spend time with them. Tom was the peacekeeper who was best known for his infectious smile and compassionate spirit. He had plans to retire and be a “perma camper” on Spring River. He was preceded in death by both his parents; two brothers Earnie Pipes and Gary Pipes; two sisters Janet Pipes and Virginia Davis; and his Chihuahua Thomas Nutt Pipes. Tom is survived by his daughter Angela Jernigan of Jonesboro; three grandsons Jackson Jernigan, Roman Reynolds and Axyl Reynolds all of Jonesboro; six brothers Vern (Carol) Pipes of Valley View, James D Pipes of Parts Unknown, Arkansas, Darrel (Cindy) Pipes and Charles (Carol) Pipes both of Jonesboro, Kenneth (Lynn) Pipes of Flint Michigan, James (Bonnie) Albert Pipes of Russellville; best friend and soul mate Genevia Cates of Atkins; sister in law Vicky Pipes of Jonesboro; and many nephews, nieces and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held later in Hardy along the Spring River. Tri-City LLC Crematory Funeral Home is honored and privileged to serve the family of Thomas Pipes.
