Mr. Danny Wayne Nichols

Danny Wayne Nichols 69, passed away on May 14, 2020 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was of Baptist faith. Our hearts are breaking today as we realize the depth of our loss. Danny was bigger than life, smart, bold, opinionated, controversial, outgoing, wild, and full of laughter. He never met a stranger and never forgot a face. He was born on July 19, 1950 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Leroy and Martha Nichols. Danny served in the United States Army in the early 70’s at Fort Benning, Georgia. Throughout his career he was the City Marshal of College City, Arkansas and served in various capacities for the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department. On Valentines Day in 1995 Danny married his best friend and love of his life, Cynthia Simmons. Passionate, loving, proud, and forthright, he was a husband, daddy, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and a friend too many. Danny was one of a kind – a big-hearted man who loved to cook and take care of those he loved. He cherished and adored his family. His grand babies were his world and he always took time to talk and play with them. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Martha Ellen (Dawson) Nichols, brother Loyd Earl Nichols and brother in law Gene Wheeless. Danny is survived by his wife of 25 years Cynthia Nichols of Hoxie, Arkansas; daughter Jeannie Gage of Hoxie, Arkansas; grandsons Joe Gage of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Dakota (Jillian) Gage of Mountain View, Arkansas; great grand children Felicity Gage and Samuel Zane Gage; brother Leroy (Jennifer) Nichols of Pocahontas, Arkansas; sister Generia (Everett) Green of Hoxie, Arkansas; three brother in laws Byron (Tammi) Simmons of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Tony (Evelyn) Simmons of Willis, Texas and Mike (Jenny) Simmons of Plant City, Florida; sister in Law Dr. Charlotte Wheeless of Powhatan, Arkansas; along with a host of nieces, nephews & friends. A private family graveside service will be held at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Flo & Phil Jones Hospice at St. Bernards.
