Mr. Donald Kirk Komush I

Donald Kirk Komush I, born and raised in Sanger, California, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 31, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Colyn Komush and Teresa Chavez. Don’s journey with his wife, Jacqueline, began in a truly special way. Though their mothers were best friends and they grew up as neighbors, Don and Jacqueline didn’t get to know each other well in those early years, as there were several years between them. It wasn’t until Jacqueline was a teenager that their paths really began to cross. What started as a familiar connection grew into a lifelong love when they eventually went on their first date. Years later, Jacqueline invited Don to an Easter Sunday service, and it was at that very service where he gave his life to Christ. That moment marked a transformation that would guide the rest of his life. At a prayer meeting not long after, a word from God was spoken over them—mentioning Arkansas. At the time, it seemed unimaginable. But years later, both Don and Jacqueline heard from God individually, confirming the call to move to Arkansas. With every detail miraculously aligned, Don faithfully relocated his family to Blytheville, Arkansas, in obedience to that divine direction. For the last 15 years of Don's life, he lived at full speed—passionately serving Jesus, loving people, and answering his calling with unwavering faith. Speaking about Jesus came naturally to Don. There was no effort—his words flowed with conviction and love because Christ was truly the center of his life. He never complained, even when things grew difficult. Instead, he continued to love, to serve, and to lead others to the hope and joy he found in Jesus. His legacy is like ripples on water—spreading, touching lives near and far, with an eternal impact only heaven can fully measure. Don was immensely proud of his four sons. Each of them was his pride and joy, and he cherished them for who they are individually. His face would light up when he was around them, and he took great joy in being their father. Don leaves behind his beautiful wife and best friend, Jacqueline Komush, with whom he would have celebrated 25 years of marriage this September. He also leaves behind his four sons: Donald Komush II, Ramzey Komush, Julius Komush, and Uriah Komush, all of Blytheville, Arkansas; his sister Nakia Komush of Sanger, California; his brother Martin Komush of Fresno, California; a host of extended family, cherished friends and church family who were deeply impacted by his life and ministry. Though our hearts ache with the weight of this loss, we rejoice knowing Don is now in the presence of Jesus—the very One he lived to serve. Heaven is sweeter because he’s there. A Celebration of Life honoring Don will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at New Harvest Family Worship Center in Brookland, Arkansas, where he faithfully served as Pastor.
