Mr. George Henry Trail Jr

George Henry Trail, 80, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away suddenly on June 29, 2025. George was born September 25, 1944, to the late George Sr. and Jewel (Crosslin) Trail. Both his parents preceded him in death, along with one sister, Susan Bullard; two brothers: Charles Trail and Larry Trail; and a brother-in-law, Guy Gilley. In 1974, George and Peggy went on a blind date; a year and a half later, they were married. This year George and Peggy would celebrate 50 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in faith and love. George described himself as bashful(!), but his family will always remember him as the best husband, father, and grandpa ever! Family was at the heart of George's life. Meals were regularly shared around the dinner table, followed by Yahtzee games filled with laughter. He had a big heart and a true love for children and older adults. George was passionate about golf, which he found both challenging and relaxing. He cherished the camaraderie of his friends and time spent outside. George had a special talent for fixing things which he often used to help others. As his friend and neighbor, Mr. Morris always said, "that George can do anything!" He had a photographic memory which served him well over the years. In 1997 when Samsonite (where he retired after 30 years) closed, George was asked to reassemble Samsonite's huge industrial oven for Sunbeam in Paragould. Plans for the oven were lost in transit, and George put them back together by memory. The family, minus Jeremy who was in college, joined him in Arkansas. A man of faith, George was an active member of both Griffin Global Methodist Church in Paragould where he taught Sunday school and attended Thursday morning prayer group and of Trinity United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro! He loved everyone at both churches. George leaves behind his best friend and wife Peggy Trail of Paragould, AR, and five children whom he loved dearly: sons, Jeremy Trail (Leslie) of Murfreesboro, TN and Jonathan Trail (Jessica) of Paragould, AR; daughters, Stephanie Griggs (Jimmy) of Murfreesboro, TN; Tonya Walters (Thor) of Albuquerque, NM; and Julie Newman of Paragould, AR. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren who were the joy of his life: Tristan Tucker of Murfreesboro, TN; Haylie Lujan (Joseph) of Denver, CO; Jenna Walters of Denver, CO; Scarlet Tucker of Murfreesboro, TN; Annelyn Trail of Murfreesboro, TN; Jordan Newman of Paragould, AR; Adeline Trail of Murfreesboro, TN; Ryan Trail of Paragould, AR; and Lyla Trail of Paragould, AR. Siblings and Sibling in-laws with whom he shared many blessed memories: Geraldine Turnage (Jimmy) of Manchester, TN; Wanda Gilley of Manchester, TN; Mike Trail of Manchester, TN; and David Trail (Pam) of Cameron, NC; Marie Trail of Murfreesboro, TN; Kent and Linda Millwood of Easley, SC; and Brad and Carolyn Millwood of Murfreesboro, TN; along with many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and coworkers. There will be two memorial services: one in Paragould, AR at Griffin Global Methodist Church, 524 E. Court Street on July 13 at 11:00 AM and the second at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2303 Jones Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN on July 27 at 2:00 PM. The family will have a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on July 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Griffin Global Methodist Church or Trinity United Methodist Church in George’s memory.
